Description:

The REGENT-C, is a cost effective gating end treatment for guardrail systems designed by Energy Absorption in conjunction with Bryson Products.

This is the only flared terminal to be specifically tested in "weak soil" (NHCRP 350 S-2 soil, or concrete sand), making it safe to use in any roadside application.

The system integrates standard guardrail products with a redirective support cable to provide adequate tensile strength, yet also providing for smooth ridedown in end-on impacts.

The FHWA recommends a minimum obstacle-free clear zone of 75' x 20' (22.5m x 6m) behind a gating terminal system. It is very important to consider clear zone requirements when selecting an end treatment for guardrail applications.

Angle impacts (after the second post) cause the vehicle to be returned to the original travel path at 12 degrees (per NCHRP-350 testing) At only 12 degrees, the likelihood of a secondary impact with another vehicle is greatly reduced. This departure angle is the lowest of any currently approved systems, thus providing for the safest post impact trajectory available.
